Racing season is in full swing !!!

With the New Jersey Motorsports Park racing season now in full swing, I have been fortunate to have witnessed and covered some excellent racing action. Besides many track days and club events, the Park has hosted  the Championship Cup Series motorcycle races. Championship Cup Series is one of the premier amateur grassroots motorcycle racing series in the USA. In conjunction with that series, the park is sponsoring the New Jersey Road Race Series, which will crown a champion from the four CCS  race dates held at New Jersey Motorsports Park. The racing action was fast and furious in all classes, and spectators were rewarded with thrilling action for the entire weekend.

The SCCA Pro Racing Trans Am Series made its  first visit to the New Jersey Motorsports Park on May 7th through 9th. Once again spectators and racers were treated to an exciting, action packed weekend of racing. The weekend included racing in Pro Racing Trans Am, Historic Trans Am, Spec Racer Ford, and Formula Enterprise classes. The site and sound of Mustangs, Corvettes, and Jaguars thundering around the 2.25 mile Thunderbolt course thrilled those in attendance and brought back memories of the glory days of  American muscle car racing. It is sometimes difficult to photograph these races as you are tempted to just stand and watch the wheel to wheel action. In addition to the Trans Am classes, attendees were treated to a return appearance of the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup featuring identically factory prepared VW Jetta TDI sedans. This series is one of the most environmentally friendly racing series going. The cars are whisper quiet and run on clean diesel technology.
